The Long Night of Museums in Haslach

On 3 October, it’s that time of year again – night owls in the Mühlviertel can set off on a discovery tour of Haslach’s museums from 6 pm and uncover all sorts of things along the way.
Look forward to special guided tours, music, dance and a varied programme of hands-on activities for the whole family. From self-playing musical instruments and fascinating looms to textile materials to touch and explore – a Museum Night full of discoveries!

Exhibition exploration for students in the special exhibition “MIST!” and accompanying workshops

What happens to old clothes – and what can they become?

The special exhibition “MIST! Rethinking Textile Waste” explores textile waste, recycling, and sustainable ideas. With our new Exhibition Exploration programme, students discover creative solutions and learn how seemingly useless waste can be transformed into new ideas and products.

Complementing the exhibition exploration, our new workshops invite students to get creative, make things themselves, and experiment. In “Trash Makes Fashion”, students use leftover materials to create imaginative outfits, while “Let’s Twist!” gives old T-shirts a new lease of life by turning them into cords and keyrings.

Alongside our new workshops, we continue to offer age-appropriate guided tours and a wide range of workshops for students from Grade 1 onwards. With different themes and durations to choose from, the programme can be tailored to suit each school class.

Please note: The Exhibition Exploration of the special exhibition “MIST!” is only available to book until 4 April 2027.

Artists in Residence 2026

The Textile Center Haslach , in cooperation with the European Textile Network (ETN), has announced three artist-in-residence positions for the period from August 4th to 15th, 2026. From approximately 40 applications, three young female artists were selected who are currently working on their individual projects in our workshops:

Emilie Palle Holm, DK: Jacquard weaving on an industrial power loom
Maévane Dilé, FR: Jacquard weaving on TC1/TC2
Stefanie Prießnitz, DE: Tufting

On Friday, August 14th, 2026, at 7 pm, they will offer insights into their work.

Summer Symposium Textile Kultur Haslach 2026: RETHINKING TEXTILE WASTE

The international Summer Symposium TEXTILE KULTURE HASLACH 2026 takes place under the motto "Rethinking Textile Waste". It revolves around current issues related to overproduction and recycling, questions the handling of fast fashion and production waste from the textile industry, and focuses on ideas that view waste as a valuable resource.

The Action Week for International Museum Day at the museums in Haslach once again offered a wide range of successful events centered around culture, encounters, and shared experiences. With a diverse program, fascinating insights, and many enjoyable moments together, the start of the new museum season was celebrated successfully.

ACTIVITIES WEEK to mark International Museum Day at the Haslach Museums

The museums in Haslach will kick off the new season at the start of May and are offering a varied programme to mark International Museum Day, which runs from 1 to 10 May. A wide range of events are taking place across Upper Austria, which can be found in the Upper Austrian Museums Association’s calendar.

OPEN CALL: Arist Residency in Haslach 2026

The Textile Centre Haslach, in cooperation with the European Textile Network ETN, is announcing an artist-in-residence program for one person each in the following three areas from August 5^th – 14^th 2026:
- Tufting
- Jacquard weaving on TC1/TC2 looms
- Jacquard weaving on an electronically controlled, industrial loom

International Symcraft Network Meeting as part of ETN Summer Jumble, 18–21 July 2025

The European Textile Network (ETN) is an international community of textile creators, designers, educators and researchers that brings together professionals from across Europe at large conferences and smaller symposiums. As an associated partner, ETN is also part of the Symcraft project.

Field Trip Recap: Exploring Textile Production in the Mühlviertel

Last week, students from the department textil.kunst.design from the University of Art and Design Linz took a field trip to the Mühlviertel region to visit local textile companies. Once known for its rich linen tradition, the area now hosts a wide range of textile production. From rope making and traditional weaving to bedding and even fire hose manufacturing, there was a wide range of textile techniques to discover.

Summer Symposium Textile Kultur Haslach 2025

The TEXTILE KULTUR HASLACH summer symposium will take place between 14 July and 1 August 2025. After a year's break, Haslach will once again be transformed into a hotspot for textile enthusiasts from near and far. You can expect a wide range of exhibitions, an extensive programme of courses, numerous supporting events and, of course, the international weavers' market with Faserzone.
